The year 2006 has come to an end, and it is now time to reflect on my favorite movies from 2006.
1. The Departed
Martin Scorsese’s best movie since Goodfellas. This film has everything: action, drama, violence, sex, and one crazy ass ending. Scorsese is a master storyteller, and his talent really shines in this film. Expect to see many Academy Award nominations for this film.
2. Little Miss Sunshine
What can I say about this film aside from it being the funniest movie I saw this year? This film is about one crazy family going on an even crazier road trip to get the little daughter to a beauty pageant. Anything and everything happens in this fun-filled film.
3. Borat
The second funniest movie of the year. This movie was awesome, everyone needs to see this move.
4. Casino Royale
One of the best Bond movies ever. This was an awesome action flick, easily the best of the year.
5. Apocalypto
Mel Gibson upset a lot of people this year with his remarks about Jews, but that didn’t do anything to ruin his film Apocalypto. Very exciting chase movie, filled with tons of blood and great visuals.
6. The Descent
The scariest movie I have seen in a long time. It’s about women that go spelunking in the Appalachian Mountains and come across an undiscovered species of cave monsters. Very scary movie, check it out.
7. Clerks 2
Great sequel to an already great film. Kevin Smith did a great job closing the lives of some of his most famous characters. This movie is very funny and I recommend this to everyone.
8. United 93
Very powerful film about the events of 9/11. Paul Greengrass’s film is filled with fear, anxiety, emotions, and sadness. He did a very good job portraying the events that took place on the plane United 93. Every American should watch this film.
9. Find Me Guilty
I know people will be turned off on this movie because Vin Diesel is the main character, but please reconsider your thoughts. This is a great court room drama filled with lots of laughter. Vin Diesel does an excellent job portraying Jackie D and deserves some major recognition for his part.
10. Dead Man’s Shoes
This movie came about before 2006, but it was released in the United States in 2006, so I am adding this to my list. This movie is amazing. Very dark, British revenge film. Pick this movie up immediately.

Nice list, but I’m sure you forgot a few.
.
What about Brick, Haven, World Trade Center, An Inconvenient Truth, Jackass Number 2, Confetti, Fearless, …?
Those are – in my opinion – great movies worthy of a top 10 spot, or at least being mentioned.
Anyway, nice post

You know, I haven’t seen any of those movies on your list except for Jackass 2, which was pretty funny, I have to admit. I want to see WTC and Brick looked very intriguing, so I will look into those sometime soon. I also want to see Babel and Blood Diamond, because I know those 2 will probably be up for academy awards.
For my list, I just went with the movies I saw and the ones that thoroughly entertained me. The best movies are the ones you can watch over and over again without getting tired of them.

Yes exactly. I’ve seen a lot of movies in 2006, and surprisingly there were a lot of descent quality movies between them. We didn’t have a ‘Lord of the Rings’ or ‘The Matrix’ blockbusters, but a lot of intriguing stories who successfully drew you into the movie. What surprised me a lot was ‘Brick’, a film noir set in present-day High School, played by teenagers. And of course the movie Haven from the same director of Crash (a very similar type of movie) really caught my attention. I haven’t seen Blood Diamond (yet) and Babel is also on my list. I didn’t really like The Departed. Yes, it has a storyline with a huge amount of twists and turns, and the director did a really nice job, but it just didn’t convince me. The day after I had already forgotten the most of it.

Anyway, it was a nice year and if I look at your ‘Upcoming movies for 2007′ post, I just can’t wait
