Capcom has announced their hit game from 2006 will be transformed into a feature film.
Dead Rising follows reporter Frank West as he travels into a city under quarantine on a helicopter. West is looking for a big scoop so he can finally hit the big times, so he follows a scoop he has and heads to a small town to find it has been overrun by zombies. Seeking refuge, West heads to the local mall only to find that has been taken over by the zombies as well. From there on West and a few other survives try and unravel the mystery behind the zombies and a secret cult.
The game isn’t completely original, like the whole “run to the mall for safety” idea which was what happened in George Romero’s DAWN OF THE DEAD, but it sure is a lot of fun beating the crap out of some zombies with anything you want. Hopefully the film makers don’t screw this up, because this game-to-movie adaptation could be very good if done correctly.

Dawn of the Dead and Dead Rising are very similar, but they still have their differences. No one really gave a crap as to how everyone bcame zombies in Dawn of the Dead, but in Dead Rising that is the whole point of the game. I also believe Dead Rising will have a lot more violence and gore to it than Dawn of the Dead, just because it should be an all out zombie massacre for 90 minutes.

It could be well done but most likely will not. Due to the fact that the story line in the game is awfull.
It’s nothing more than an amusing distraction.
Any attempts at making this “silly” game into a “serious” movie will end up futile and will crush the minds and souls of all those who partake of it and pretend that it is the best thing since atari. Or halo? Half life? I dunno. Chuckie cheese?

No, it was never known in George A. Romero’s Dawn Of The Dead the actual reason as to why the dead roam the earth. The saying that Steven said is just that, a saying. If you refer back to Night Of The Living Dead, the first in the Living Dead series, you’ll find that they go off of mere speculation, and have yet to resolve the REAL problem.
George Romero even said himself, they gave a VAGUE description of the POSSIBLE reason for the apocalypse, but NOTHING is certain. He WANTED it to be that way, that’s the whole point… The subtlety in his works is so powerful, it’s the entire driving force of the movie.
And in regards to the topic at hand, GREAT NEWS!!! I surely hope they go through with this, as well as persist with that supposed franchise they said they were going to incorporate. But who knows how long that’ll take, considering Inafune’s tied up with so much shit right now, and if he were to hand the rights over to Blue Castle… eesh.
